But what is Web 2.0? Wikipedia defines it this way. Web 2.0, a phrase coined by O'Reilly Media in 2004, refers to a perceived or proposed second generation of Internet-based services—such as social networking sites, wikis, communication tools—that emphasize online collaboration and sharing among users. O'Reilly Media, in collaboration with MediaLive International, used the phrase as a title for a series of conferences, and since 2004 some technicians and marketers have adopted the phrase. Its exact meaning remains open to debate, and some experts, notably Tim Berners Lee, have questioned whether the term has meaning.
So it is a word from a conference that IT Proffesional liked and starting using. Here is our understanding of web 2.0. It is the next generation of websites that increase the stickyness of a website by enhancing the visitors involvement on and within your site.
The foundations of Web 2.0 include technologies such as XML programming language, and a web development application using JavaScript called Ajax. These technologies give the user the opportunity to interact with your website. There is no real defined way to do this, although there are some very good Web 2.0 Sites out there.
