    • Javacatz revamps website & builds integrated CMS for GSIS
      January 25, 2006
Prestigious German Swiss International School (GSIS) is getting a facelift for its website. It will transform from its present standard layout into a sleek and smooth one that better represents the school's philosophy and goal of excellence.

Javacatz is currently designing and programming the new site, as well as building a content management system that will allow the school to manage its website, manage its students and staff contacts lists, organise and store school documents, share educational materials, and manage the bookings for its sports facilities.

The challenge for Javacatz is integrating the content management system with the systems that GSIS already has - contacts list management systems, file management application, website management tools, and an email system. Each system is separate to the others and some information must be duplicated before the user is able to enter data into these systems. Javacatz must combine all of them into one content management portal that is secure, user-friendly and fast.

Once completed by May / June 2006, the content management system will provide GSIS with a more efficient administration method for their website, contacts lists, file storage and email.

Located on The Peak, GSIS incorporates three spacious, versatile buildings. It is a school with two systems: dual stream education from Kindergarten to secondary school following the German and British school systems. Highly-qualified teachers from Germany and English-speaking countries teach over 1,100 students from more than 30 countries.

    • Finalist in The Australian Business Awards 2004
      October 18, 2004
On Friday, 15 October 2004, finalists of the Australian Business Awards 2004 attended the Awards ceremony at the Grand Hyatt. Javacatz was amongst them.

Categories were Business Entrepreneurial Award, Special Environmental Commendation, Business Innovation Award, Business Promotion Award and Business Excellence Award.

Finalists came from many different sectors. Established presences and histories made for tough competition and Javacatz was considered by far the youngest finalist.

Javacatz had entered the Business Entrepreneurial Award category, which recognises small or medium-sized Australian businesses that have shown entrepreneurial excellence in greater China over the previous year.

Competing against Javacatz were companies in kiln design and development, consulting and executive training, and an architectural firm. Javacatz was the only I.T. company in the Business Entrepreneurial Award category, which was the most competitive class.

Against other entrants, many of whom have twenty-plus years in their industries, Javacatz (only six years old) gave a solid performance. While Javacatz did not win in its category, the company is delighted to have been a finalist.

Chairman of AustCham Hong Kong, Alan Johnson, and Chairman of the ABA Advisory Group, Peter Osborne, stated that all finalists "demonstrate the range and depth of Australian businesses, products and services available throughout greater China."

Companies were judged on various commercial aspects, including its financial base and viability, the impact the company has had on the marketplace and its business growth and activities. Other criteria include efficient internal organisational structure, ethical business behaviour and environmental responsibility.

WesTrac China, the Perth-based Caterpillar tractor dealer, won the coveted Business Excellence Award, while Sydney-based industrial automation software provider Citect Corp won the Business Innovation Award. Taiwan's Clinico took the Business Promotion Award and GFC Kilns International won the Business Entrepreneurial Award.
